About jerry

Jerry Isenhart has kicked around the Lake Chelan Valley since 1969, when he arrived in Chelan, having just turned 25, to own & operate KOZI Radio. After selling KOZI in 1999, Isenhart took a 12 month vacation, and then launched one of the very first Community Web Sites in the nation, Go Lake Chelan. That was before Google, Facebook, GMail, Twitter, and a whole host of Social Media and 6 years before Apple introduced their IPHone, which revolutionized the Internet more than anything else. Isenhart sold that established web-site in 2014, and turned his attention to Aerial Photography via Quadcopters, and has an incredible library of stills and videos taken over the last few years, with new material being captured all the time. Chelan Cams is the obvious evolution of someone who is always out front, with technology and content. Stick around - Isenhart intends to use this site to give "perspective' on the valley, using camera images to speak the thousand words.

Dan Campbell – The History of Campbell’s Resort

Remembering Dan Campbell And the Early History of Campbell's Resort A 1981  interview with Dan Campbell by  KOZI's Scott Brundage. Dan not only shares the history of the Resort, but the family history including his own military experience during WWII, where he was a pilot in the Army Air Corp. Dan is shown with his brother Arthur, in this 1976 photo taken of the two during Campbell Resort's 75th Anniversary Celebration. Dan is unmistakable with his signature vest and holding an un-lit cigar in his right hand.  Interviewing Dan is KOZI Radio's legendary historian Scott Brundage.  This interview [...]

Slide Ridge Flash Flood- July 2, 2019

Slide Ridge Flash Flood - July 2, 2019Shortly after 3 PM on July 2, 2019, a torrential rainstorm hit the Lake Chelan Valley. And as is almost always the case, the South Lakeshore Road between the Cove Marina and the Yacht Club gets covered with mud and rocky debris that covers the road and forces traffic to use a single lane, dirt by-pass.  Chelan County Road Crews employed an innovative solution to getting the road open to one way traffic (using the emergency by-pass that has been in place now for a long time).  Employing portable traffic control lights at each end, [...]

Hydro Races of the 1950’s

Hydrofest Races of the 1950'sDuring the 1950's a group of local businessmen were successful in putting on a few years of sanctioned hydroplane races on Lake Chelan,The races brought the big names and bring boats to the valley for what was known as the Apple Cup.  The event also brought crowds - almost unruly crowds - the likes and sizes that valley was unprepared to handle.

Historical Moment in Lake Chelan Boating History

Thanks to the late Don Cannon (Cannon's Resort) and his daughter Linda Lu, we post one of Don's favorite personal photos. The Cannon's lived at their resort (across from Judy Jane Bakery, at what was formerly Jobe's Resort and subsequently after Cannon's sold became Campbell's Lodge #3). Don and family saw all the comings and goings of the Lake Chelan Boat Company boats back in the day when the Boat Company used to pick up passenger at the public dock at the foot of Woodin Avenue. Don told me at the time he took this photo, "Those Boat Company Pilots are [...]

2017 Prediction – Change Is Coming To Lake Chelan

Massive Change To Waterfront on Lower End of Lake Chelan In Feb 2017, we produced this  "Newsreel" style video capturing an extensive look at an area of Lake Chelan waterfront that would soon be seeing extensive change. We knew then that Chelan Seaplanes would no longer be operating out of that area and that the former Howe Sound dock,  just downlake from the Lake Chelan Boat Company would be removed and a major marina ( Sunset Marina ) w0uld be built at that location.  As we up-date this post in January , 2019, we've learned that the Lake Chelan Boat Company [...]

Chelan Then and Now

Town of Chelan - 1908  vs  2018With locations viewed about 110 years apart.  The original black and white was taken in the early 1900's - we're unsure of the exact year,  and the color update was taken in the Spring of 2018.As we study these photos we can see what is apparently Woodin Avenue, and several other landmarks.Keep in mind the Chelan Dam had not been built when the 1900's photo was taken, so the waterline is different. That is especiallytrue the closer you get to the mouth of the Chelan River, where the channel narrows starting below Lakeside. When the [...]

Classic Lake Chelan 1950’s Film Footage

Incredible 1950's Film Footage of Lake ChelanWe can thank many people for putting this together. The 'video rights' to this belong to Malcolm Keithly. The most recent editing was the work of Lise Anderson. We wish we could know who all to thank for capturing the many segments on film so many long years ago. This is classic footage.  Enjoy!
